It has been a long day.

Woke up this morning feeling somewhat tired and ill, and my right hand and arm were bothering me somewhat. The left shoulder was still agonizing and not comfortable, and I’m still limited in mobility with that arm. The weather was horrible outside, pounding rain, and somewhat cold. Probably didn’t help with my body aching all over. I got up, managed the morning rituals, and then had breakfast (egg scramble with some toast, a bit of jam, and some yogurt followed by coffee).

After breakfast, I did a bit of reading and wrote some notes down about my current scenario idea for the Primeval RPG, and then showered. The hot water seemed to help with my shoulder somewhat, but the muscles were still tense when I finished bathing. I checked some e-mail on the computer, and then perused a couple of on-line sites for stuff that I’m currently interested in.

After lunch, SteveR dropped by, and we went out in the rain. The first stop was the Freedom Mobile store, where I (finally) picked a case for my Samsung Galaxy A5 mobile phone, a travel charger, and a protective layer cover for the screen. Cost me over $70, but I was expecting that, I guess. From there, it was over to Staples, as I needed to do the photocopying of various sheets (player character sheets, mostly) for the four games I’ll be running at CanGames 2017 in just a day short of two weeks. Needed to do copying of material for two Coriolis – The Third Horizon games, a Primeval game, and a Tales From the Loop game, so that ran me a bit of money (but I had budgeted for that).

Picked up a couple of croissant for tomorrow morning’s breakfast, and then stopped off at a Tim Horton’s to check out the new latte that they’re offering, but it doesn’t come in a decaf format (should have known this, given that it’s espresso coffee), so I guess I won’t be having any of that any time soon. Oh, well.

SteveR dropped me off at the house with the various stuff, and after a quick rest for about 5 minutes, he headed for home, and I am watching the Ottawa Senators-New York Rangers NHL playoff game (the Sens are currently leading 3-2 near the end of the 2nd period of play).

It has been snowing on and off (mostly on) for most of the day, and there’s a good amount of accumulation out there as I write this.

The Friday night players called and surprised me by letting me know that they’ll be coming out as per the usual time tonight for their weekly gaming session. My three sick players are back in action tonight, so I’m looking forward to running some Coriolis – The Third Horizon this evening, though I’m not sure how long the game session will go, depending on the weather.

In the meantime, supper awaits.

Have a good evening, folks, and be safe.

Despite the fact that the weather has been pretty inclement (read: lots of snow and windy) the last couple of days, the Wednesday night gaming group has decided to play this evening.

This means the Wednesday night crew will be continuing on with their Coriolis – The Third Horizon game campaign this evening. Rather looking forward to that.

In the meantime, I need to get to the kitchen and put something on for supper.

Have a good evening, folks.

It’s Thursday in the Ottawa valley. The temperature has dropped, though not as low as it’s going to get over the weekend, but the sun is out so hopefully the day will feel warmer than it has so far.

Promises to be a busy day. After work, I’ve got to go for my Footcare appointment, then to the hospital for a PSA blood test, and finally for a haircut. Then I’ll think about lunch.

Gods, but I feel tired already!

Went out this afternoon to take care of registering for CanGames 2017.

Made the trip down to the Ottawa gaming store, Fandom II, and I made the mistake of not wearing a winter hat out there. Sure, it was raining and all, but was pretty cold to be honest, and I got into Fandom II feeling somewhat numbed around the ears, and with a sinus headache like you get when you eat something that’s too cold. Hope I haven’t aggravated the bronchitis condition that I’ve got at the moment.

Anyway, the registration for CanGames went relatively smoothly at Fandom II, though I was surprised that the weekend membership had gone from $28 to $33, but I guess times change and costs go up. I didn’t pre-register for any games to play in, figuring that I’ll take my chances with that when I get to the convention itself and see what’s actually available and game slots and the like.

Anyway, just getting ready to have some supper and then relax and take it easy for the evening.

Good news for tonight. Despite the threat of freezing rain in the Ottawa valley and the fact that I’m definitely feeling under the weather, the Friday night gaming group have decided to play this evening.

I suspect that they’re somewhat jazzed still to play some Coriolis – The Third Horizon RPG campaign. I’ve still not finished reading the book entirely, but I’m pretty much looking forward to starting actual play tonight as well (I hope).

In the meantime, I need to think about supper.

Have a good evening, folks. 🙂

Shaping up to be a comfortable, almost spring-like day here in the Ottawa valley. Rather strange for a February, but I won’t complain about this if you readers don’t either. 🙂

Work has been somewhat tiring this morning, but part of that is attributable to the fact that a) I’ve still got this bug, whatever it is, though I suspect it’s bronchitis, and b) the fact that I didn’t get a lot of sleep last night as I kept waking up from the coughing. The good news is that I have my regularly scheduled doctor’s appointment for this afternoon, so hopefully he’ll be able to figure out and tell me what I’ve got, and then we’ll go from there.

I won’t be gaming this evening with the Wednesday night group, as tonight is their off week, so I’ll be able to just sit back, and perhaps do some reading or watch some more of the Scott Tournament of Hearts on TSN. Some curling, hot drink, and relaxing on the couch with a book – sounds just about right for me at the moment.

Had a pretty rough night. I started getting nerve spasms again in my left foot around 10:00 pm last night, and they were very…strong. I took a couple of Tylenol, but that didn’t help, though I guess it made me feel sleepy (they always do). I went to bed, but slept very little and to be honest, I felt like I was losing my mind somewhat around 3:30 am. Suffice it to say, I managed a few cat naps here and there overnight, but woke up feeling woozy and tired, and the spasms haven’t stopped.

At about the right time for leaving for work, took one look outside at the falling snow (we’ve had about 15cms more of the white stuff overnight), and decided that I would work from home. The office was fine about this, so that was good. Besides, the way I was feeling at the time, it would not have been a good idea to go anywhere. And I think that taxis were at a premium around that time. So have been working from home, despite the fatigue and exhaustion.

Regardless, I still have to go out this afternoon. I have my regular, 6-month appointment with my endo at the Diabetes Clinic in mid-afternoon (not a good time of the day, ’cause he always falls behind), and I have to say that I’m not looking forward to that at all. I don’t think my diabetes numbers are good, and I’m also worried somewhat about my PSA blood test results (though I know they’re not as accurate as having an actual biopsy done); I just have to wait and see what he says.

Gaming-wise, the Wednesday night gamers are supposed to be playing this evening, though Donna told me that she’d get back to me later in the day about this. While they want to start playing the Coriolis – The Third Horizon RPG, I’m not sure whether I’m ready to do so. They still need to do up their characters for the game, and I can manage that I suspect, but we’ll see whether we game tonight or not. There’s a lot of snow to clean up everywhere, and I’m not sure if it’s supposed to snow some more today or not.

Sunday Morning, and Gaming (Not) Thoughts February 12, 2017

It’s Sunday morning. A somewhat cold day here in the Ottawa valley.

I woke up this morning feeling somewhat tired and a little bit exhausted, as I’m feeling pretty ill due to the virus/cold thing that I’ve got.

The weather here in Ottawa is about to get nasty, with a major snow storm coming up today (around 25+ centimetres of snow expected), and as I look out the window, it’s started to snow pretty hard. Tammy won’t be out to today regardless, as she’s got an infected tooth – and there’s that weather thing. I’ve just spoken to SteveR, and told him Tammy won’t be out, and he agreed that we’ll take the day off from gaming.

Speaking of gaming, the GenCon 2017 Housing registration begins today at 12:00 noon. I was assigned a time of 6:37pm tonight to access the Housing Portal, so we’ll see how that goes…or doesn’t. (I don’t have fond memories of the process from 2015, so…) I just hope that I manage to get the hotel that I’m trying for, but I’ve got a plan this year in case that doesn’t work out.

No gaming this afternoon with the Sunday group means I’ll be taking it easy this afternoon. May do a bit of reading of the Coriolis – The Third Horizon main rulebook, but the (new) book is still very smelly (and seems to be bothering my lungs).

In the meantime, I’m going to take a hot shower. Hopefully feel better, too.

Wednesday morning. The first of February. A new month.

While I can’t say that January was a horrible month, it certainly had moments that I’d like to forget, so I’m glad to see the back end of it. Aside from the typical winter weather (though there were periods where it was decidedly un-winter-like), January did have some good moments, so it wasn’t a total loss.

Now February is here. It’s going to be a busy month, with four doctor’s appointments (including my yearly eye check-up, and hopefully I don’t need a new lens prescription). I’ve also got some roleplaying stuff that I need to take care of, with CanGames 2017 just 3-1/2 months away, and starting to run games again this month on all three of my gaming groups. I’m hoping that February is a quiet month, stress free, and that the weather isn’t too bad for this time of winter. ::knock on wood::

Anyway, here’s hoping that February is a good month. 🙂
