In lieu of my recent hospital stay and the fact that I’m feeling quite under the weather, gaming for today is off. Since Tammy is still on her vacation, this is a good thing.

And the weather is not cooperating, either. So no gaming today.

Sunday morning.

The weather in Ottawa has gotten colder the last couple of days, well, actually more seasonal than anything else. 🙂 This hasn’t helped the aches and (largely) pains I’ve been suffering from, but what can you do? *sigh*

Meanwhile, the Sunday gaming group will be getting together to play this afternoon, and I’m rather quite pleased. The distraction will do me good, and I really do like gaming, roleplaying in particular. 🙂 We’ll be playing a session of the Torg Eternity RPG this afternoon, as I still need more practice with the game before I run the sessions I’m scheduled to do at CanGames 2018.

I’m actually running the scenario on a wing and a prayer, but have a rough draft for it that I think will work for a Living Land adventure fir conventions and the like, and it’ll be useful for game campaigns as well. Looking forward to gaming today.

Have a good afternoon, folks.

It’s a Sunday to forget.

The weather forecast for today was freezing rain lasting into the middle or late afternoon. It hasn’t disappointed and is a pretty gloomy day out there with…freezing rain.

Anyway, the upshot of this is that the Sunday afternoon gaming session has been cancelled for today due to the weather. Not to mention the fact that Tammy is on-call for work this weekend. So once more the next session of the The Dark Eye RPG campaign will have to wait.

In the meantime, I have a rest day. 🙂

It’s Sunday afternoon, almost.

While it was snowing with some freezing accumulation last night, it’s somewhat gloomy and cloudy outside. However, there’s a forecast for freezing rain and snow starting mid-afternoon.

Anyway, the upshot of this is that the Sunday afternoon gaming session has been cancelled for today due to the weather. Tammy and I spoke early this morning, and decided to call the game off, so I spoke to SteveR and he pretty much felt the same way. This means the next session of the The Dark Eye RPG campaign will have to wait, but it won’t be next weekend as Tammy is on-call for her work for the next two weeks.

I can’t say that I’m sorry we won’t be gaming today, as truth of the matter is I’m still sick with whatever this *censored!* bug is that I’ve caught. That said, it will allow me to keep up with the final hours of the John Carter of Mars – The Roleplaying Game Kickstarter. The Kickstarter closes at 3 pm EST, but even after it closes you’ll be able to take a late pledge to the game.

Gotta go, need to make some lunch!

It’s Sunday, nearly afternoon.

It’s been snowing outside since last night, and is showing no signs of stopping. (10-15 cms, my butt!)

Anyway, the upshot of this is that the Sunday afternoon gaming session has been cancelled for today due to the weather. This means the next session of the The Dark Eye RPG campaign will have to wait, hopefully until next weekend.

I can’t say that I’m sorry we won’t be gaming today, as truth of the matter is I’m still sick with whatever this *censored!* bug is that I’ve caught. I’m just very, very tired. So this means another day of relative rest, little talking, and just catching up on some tv and pvr stuff.

But I am sorry that I’m not gaming today.

Final Day of 2017 December 31, 2017

It’s the last day of 2017.

Thank Goddess this year is coming to an end. While there have been some good moments this past year, 2017 saw too many deaths of beloved figures in both music and entertainment, a U.S. government that wreaked all manner of changes and most not for the better in the world, and the senseless slaughter of too many people world-wide in acts of terrorism and sheer evil. Add to that the rough times I’ve had this year health-wise (especially during the last four months of the year), and in other regards that I’ve not discussed this year, and… Well, to reiterate, good riddance to 2017.

It’s a Sunday morning, so I’m sitting here at home taking it relatively easy. The weather outside is brutally cold, and the snow was coming down when I woke up, and I feel as if I’ve not really slept all that well last night. Well, actually I didn’t. I don’t intend to do a lot of stuff today, and I’ll see how I feel later in the day.

Time to clean the dishes, and take a nice, hot shower. Hopefully the latter will make me feel somewhat better.

November is a New Month November 1, 2017

It is a new month. November.

Or Movember, as it’s also known, since a lot of men grow moustaches for the month as a means of supporting prostate cancer research and the like. (Since I have a moustache already, I guess I can just let it grow a bit longer, right? 🙂 )

As a nice change for this month, I don’t have a lot of medical appointments, just three as of this writing, including an appointment with the family doctor ::knock on wood::. A pleasant surprise, as I discovered last night looking at the calendar. I still have too get both the flu shot and the pneumonia shot this year, but need to wait until I’m feeling a bit better and fully over the bug that I currently am (hopefully) just about done with.

I’m also hoping that Old Man Winter decides to hold off somewhat in regards to the white stuff. I’d really appreciate that.

I woke up this morning after getting what feels like very little sleep. Felt terrible.

I’m not going into details about what’s happening with me today. Not worth the effort here. I am wondering whether part of it is due to the weather (wet and somewhat warm), but don’t know for sure.

I was going to work from home today, but with what’s ailing me today that’s not an option. Suffice to say, I’m going to take it very easy, and try and heal a bit. Goddess willing.

It has been a long day.

Woke up this morning feeling somewhat tired and ill, and my right hand and arm were bothering me somewhat. The left shoulder was still agonizing and not comfortable, and I’m still limited in mobility with that arm. The weather was horrible outside, pounding rain, and somewhat cold. Probably didn’t help with my body aching all over. I got up, managed the morning rituals, and then had breakfast (egg scramble with some toast, a bit of jam, and some yogurt followed by coffee).

After breakfast, I did a bit of reading and wrote some notes down about my current scenario idea for the Primeval RPG, and then showered. The hot water seemed to help with my shoulder somewhat, but the muscles were still tense when I finished bathing. I checked some e-mail on the computer, and then perused a couple of on-line sites for stuff that I’m currently interested in.

After lunch, SteveR dropped by, and we went out in the rain. The first stop was the Freedom Mobile store, where I (finally) picked a case for my Samsung Galaxy A5 mobile phone, a travel charger, and a protective layer cover for the screen. Cost me over $70, but I was expecting that, I guess. From there, it was over to Staples, as I needed to do the photocopying of various sheets (player character sheets, mostly) for the four games I’ll be running at CanGames 2017 in just a day short of two weeks. Needed to do copying of material for two Coriolis – The Third Horizon games, a Primeval game, and a Tales From the Loop game, so that ran me a bit of money (but I had budgeted for that).

Picked up a couple of croissant for tomorrow morning’s breakfast, and then stopped off at a Tim Horton’s to check out the new latte that they’re offering, but it doesn’t come in a decaf format (should have known this, given that it’s espresso coffee), so I guess I won’t be having any of that any time soon. Oh, well.

SteveR dropped me off at the house with the various stuff, and after a quick rest for about 5 minutes, he headed for home, and I am watching the Ottawa Senators-New York Rangers NHL playoff game (the Sens are currently leading 3-2 near the end of the 2nd period of play).

Getting Ready for Friday Night Gaming March 24, 2017

It has been snowing on and off (mostly on) for most of the day, and there’s a good amount of accumulation out there as I write this.

The Friday night players called and surprised me by letting me know that they’ll be coming out as per the usual time tonight for their weekly gaming session. My three sick players are back in action tonight, so I’m looking forward to running some Coriolis – The Third Horizon this evening, though I’m not sure how long the game session will go, depending on the weather.

In the meantime, supper awaits.

Have a good evening, folks, and be safe.
