Had my two weeks’ doctor’s appointment yesterday.

What a mess.

The appointment was scheduled for 2:15 pm, but because “we’ve had a busy day today” (according to the receptionist), I didn’t see the doctor until 3:35 pm! *sigh*

In any event, there was good news and bad news on various subjects.

Good news: The x-rays of my chest came back. They show my lungs were/are clear, so I’ve not got an infection there of any kind.

Bad news: The x-rays of my left shoulder have not come back yet. So as the pain gets worse, and is starting to affect my left arm and hand and fingers… Meh.

As for the rest of it, well… Since I’ve not got an infection, per sé, that leaves mould and the like at the house (which is not present, far as I know) or my allergies. The latter are more likely, since apparently it’s a bad allergy season and lots of people are having a hard time with it. He prescribed an inhaler for me, Symbicort, for me, since I do have a history with asthma as well, and told me to take over the counter meds for any other aspects of the “infection” as I need them.

Insofar as the left shoulder is concerned, the doctor won’t prescribe any form of treatment until he’s seen at least the x-rays, but preferably the ultrasound that he’s asked for. Since there hasn’t even been a call about setting up the ultrasound yet, I’m not optimistic. The fact of the matter is that the shoulder pain is getting worse every day, I’ve got almost no mobility with it, and there are problems setting in with my muscles, as well as the use of my hand, arms, and fingers. Not good.

Oh, and I still can’t talk for the most part. He did say that my voice should come back as I heal, and it might take up to six weeks. He also said to be careful and not talk if I can avoid it for a while, as I may damage the vocal chords due to the swelling that’s present in that area. Just great.

In the meantime, I have another appointment in two weeks. *sigh*

Doctor Appointment and Hospital Tests May 23, 2017

Just got home from seeing the doctor (a scheduled appointment) and then going to the hospital for some x-rays.

The news is not good.

Due to the allergies and the asthma attack that I’ve been suffering from, I’ve injured my larynx because of the talking and the coughing (mostly the latter). Probably didn’t help it at all by going to CanGames 2017 this past weekend. *sigh* In addition, my throat is partially swollen shut because of the allergies and possibly made worse by the asthma attack that is persisting.

In addition, there is a serious problem with my left shoulder, made worse by my having forgotten not to use my left arm when I threw a small, plastic footstool in a fit of anger last night. 😦

The doctor sent me for x-rays of both the shoulder and my chest, and I also am waiting to hear on an appointment for an ultrasound of my shoulder (and it may be followed up with some other tests as well). He thinks I’ve got an infection in the chest now as well (bets are on con crud…anybody?). In the meantime, he prescribed for me an antibiotic and a strong anti-inflammatory. And I am not to talk for several days.

This should be fun.

And I’m just going to try and rest for the rest of the day and into the evening.

Hope everyone is having a good day. 🙂

CanGames is pretty much a done deal for me, though the folks who organised and put on this year’s edition of the convention are probably dealing with the aftermath of the convention and hopefully getting in some rest today as well.

I made the decision to go to the convention this year after suffering a major case of allergies which led to a massive bout of asthma this weekend, and on Friday my voice was already down and dwindling. While it was not the smartest decision to go and game on the weekend (I was running four (4) game sessions of stuff), I managed to survive CanGames (barely). While I’m feeling extremely fatigued and exhausted, and the allergies/asthma attack are completely overwhelming my body right now (and I may have caught the dreaded con crud, on top of all that), I have to say I had a pretty good time running my games at CanGames 2017 and catching up with a few friends, but most of it has passed in a blur. The convention had a little bit for everyone – from children’s games, through board games, miniature games, roleplaying games, and I think there were a couple of LARP events that I may have heard about – but I’ll admit that I missed most of it. I was feeling under the weather (to put it mildly!), so I didn’t actually take any photos or the like at the convention this year. (If folks who did take photos at the convention would care to share them, I’d be more than happy to see any pics and the like!)

On this holiday Monday, I’m just taking it easy, puttering around somewhat, having lots of hot liquids, Tylenol when I need it, watching some PVR stuff, and have managed to put away some of the gaming stuff. ve been trying to take it somewhat easy. Haven’t jotted down any notes about the gaming that I did this weekend yet, but will take care of some of that now. After I have a hot cup of tea.

I just hope the rest of this month is relatively calm and quiet in terms of everything, that I can recover quickly from this sickness I’m dealing with now, and that I can sort out some of the diabetes problems I’m currently dealing with.

I have returned home.

I came, I gamed, I survived. (Barely, to be honest.)

I’m home from CanGames 2017 (well, about twenty minutes ago), and have come through the convention by the skin of my teeth. There were some really good moments, a couple of really bad moments, but I think I enjoyed my weekend of gaming for the most part. I will be posting up three or four journal entries during the next week or so about the convention, but for now I’m just glad CanGames is over for 2017.

I don’t remember exactly when I got back to the house, but have not unpacked any of the gaming stuff and am about to go lie down before tonight’s insulin injection, and then hopefully get some sleep. On top of the allergies/asthma attack, I think I may have picked up some other bug at the convention, and my back, left shoulder, and right foot are bothering me, well hurting quite bad, my head is entirely clogged and stuffed up, and I’m just plain tired. Oh, and I have no voice.

Good night, all.

Well, today is the start of CanGames, the local gaming convention here in Ottawa. I’m not working today, thank Goddess, so will be spending part of the morning putting together some of the stuff that I’ll need for the con, among other things.

I’ve also got a bunch of stuff that I’ll be selling at the convention this year (you can see the list of games for sale in this blog entry), and hopefully I can sell this stuff for some reasonable sums, as I could use a bit of money for later in the year.

Health-wise, I have a couple of problems that I’ve gone into in other posts, so won’t dwell on here. Since I do have walking problems because of the diabetes, don’t be surprised if I take off my shoes at times during the course of the convention. The weekend should be interesting, to say the least.

I won’t be posting any blog entries during the weekend, so folks will have to wait for when I’ve got time at the start of next week and into the week itself for reports and the like (not to mention any photos I do take) about CanGames 2017. I may tweet from the convention on my mobile phone over the weekend, and will hopefully take a few photos as well of stuff for posting here and elsewhere.

In any event, I hope I’ll see some of you at the convention. Since you’ve seen the photo of me here on my blog, you’ll know who to look for. The hair’s a bit more gray, and there’s a bit less of it, that’s all. 🙂

Just got back from the doctor’s.

I managed to schedule an appointment with the doctor today, as I’ve been feeling pretty sick since the other night, though I’m feeling better today. After examining me, the doctor told me that I’ve had/am having a severe allergy attack from all the pollen and stuff, and this has triggered a bad asthma attack as well (something I’ve not suffered in a good ten years or so).

He told me the asthma attack will take several days, if not a bit longer to get over, and said that I should just take some over the counter medications to help alleviate the symptoms somewhat, and just get on with things.

Anyway, just got home. So a quick lunch, and then a bit of a nap before moving on to other stuff for the day. Like getting ready for tomorrow’s foray to CanGames 2017.
