Getting ready for another Sunday afternoon gaming session.

SteveR and Tammy will once again be doing some playtesting and playing through one of the game systems and scenarios that I’ll be running at CanGames 2018 this May. They’ll be playing the Capharnaum – The Tales of the Dragon-Marked Roleplaying Game this afternoon, specifically the adventure that I’ll be running at the convention. (SteveR is quite disapppointed as he won’t be able to play in the Saturday evening session of this at CanGames.) Looking forward to the game today, though a bit concerned of what the players will think of the game mechanics.

In the meantime, I need to make some lunch, and then get to the gaming.

Have a good afternoon, folks.

Spoke to the players from the Friday night group last night and this morning, and they have all decided that we’ll be playing this evening. The group will continue to play test/through one of the games that I’m running at CanGames 2018 this May.

I’ve spent the latter part of the afternoon doing some preparation work for gaming tonight, as I’m planning to run the players through the Capharnaum – The Tales of the Dragon-Marked adventure that I’ll be running at the convention. Quite looking forward to it, especially to seeing what the players think of this set of game mechanics.

In the meantime, I need to make some supper, and then get to the gaming.

Have a good evening, folks.

It’s almost Sunday afternoon.

And that means it’s time for Sunday afternoon gaming.

Truth be told, I’m feeling somewhat under the weather. Got a bad headache, some chills, sinus congestion, lots of phlegm, and a moderate cough. (And that’s aside from the cervical spine issues on the left side of my body.) However, I spoke to both Tammy and , and both agreed they were willing to play this afternoon and take their chances on my health not being contagious.

We’ll be playing some The Dark Eye RPG this afternoon, as I actually manage to start the game campaign, so I’m quite looking forward to this. That said, gonna have to take decent notes on stuff today, as I’m sure I won’t remember much of the game session come the beginning of the week given the state of my head.

Like I said, looking forward to gaming. In the meantime, I need to figure out something light to eat for lunch.

Have a good afternoon, folks.

*cough, cough*

It’s Sunday.

That means it’s time for Sunday afternoon gaming.

This will be the first session of gaming with the Sunday players since last year (2017), and to be honest, I’ve been missing the gaming group. Between SteveR having surgery and his recovery time and Tammy’s on-call work schedule, this is the first Sunday session in a while.

We’ll be playing some The Dark Eye RPG is all I know for sure. The players are somewhere in that no man’s land between character generation/sample combats and actually starting to play the campaign. I’m (sort of) prepared for all eventualities, and am looking forwardd to gaming today, but we’ll see what we’ll see once the players arrive.

In the meantime, I need to figure out some lunch and then get set for the afternoon.

Have a good afternoon, folks.

It’s Friday night, and the good news is that the Friday night gaming group is playing this evening.

So, I’m getting ready for this evening’s game session with the Friday night players, and am really looking forward to it.

I’m back in pain somewhat today, though it may be somewhat better after the physio session that I had yesterday. And the fact that I’ve not strained myself too much today. With the players all feeling healthy and chipper, I’m thinking tonight will be a good game session. They’re also quite pleased that we’re getting back to some gaming this evening, as this will be the first gaming session since mid-November of last year.

I’m looking forward to this evening’s session of The Dark Eye RPG, let me tell you.

In the meantime, supper (of some form) needs to be made, and eaten. Then gaming.

Have a good night, folks.

Had another physiotherapy appointment yesterday afternoon. Only my third appointment since coming back from GenCon.

Woke up yesterday morning, and didn’t feel all that great. Lots of pain, and some dizziness. Managed to eat some scrambled eggs with veggies and cheese for breakfast, then showered, and then took care of a couple of laundry issues. Headed out for the physio clinic, “Quality Care Physiotherapy, and got there in time for my appointment, though I had problems parking the car.

The physio appointment went relatively well, though not without a lot of pain involved, and when I was finished I made two appointments for next week. I went downstairs to the small little restaurant in the building, ETC, and had a bowl of broccoli and cauliflower soup with a grilled cheese sandwich and some side greens for lunch. Yummy! 🙂

I dropped off at mom’s place and picked her up, and then took her to the local Basics store. After shopping with her, my who left side of the body was hurting again. All the physio care wasted. I took the groceries I’d picked up and went home after dropping her off at her place, and took another painkiller.

Spent a quiet evening watching the Ottawa Senators continue their losing ways with a 4-1 loss to the St. Louis Blues, and then read for about half an hour. Took care of the nightly insulin shot and then washed up and went to bed. And didn’t sleep much…again.

*sigh*

How I Spent My Christmas Day December 26, 2017

Yesterday was Christmas Day. Being a single fellow, with little family left in the world, and not celebrating Christmas to boot, ’twas a day where I got to spend much of it on my own. Well, actually all of it.

Suffice to say, the day passed relatively uneventfully. I was in a lot of head/neck/shoulder/arm/hand pain when I woke up, and realised it was a lost day. I managed to make a pancake breakfast (with sugar free syrup) for myself, but that didn’t help the pain that I was in, in fact making it somewhat worse.

The rest of the day was spent napping, doing a bit of (gaming) reading, watching a DVD (I can’t remember what, will have to get it off the watched shelf and see what it was… it was the Doctor Who DVD of “The Power of the Daleks”), and just trying to sit in chairs and in a comfortable position that didn’t make me want to scream in pain from the problem(s) mentioned above. Listened to a bit of music, predominantly Annie Haslam and some Renaissance, and was able to mellow out somewhat. Only heard from one person during the day, and that was Kathy. She called to find out how I was doing, to wish me a Happy holiday season, and to tell me that Ellie had loved the Christmas present I’d made sure she’d received.

I managed to struggle through making supper, and treated myself to a couple of latkes (a Hanukkah tradition) with some apple sauce for dessert. After cleaning the dishes away, I sat back and watched the Doctor Who Christmas special, “Twice Upon a Time”. What can I say about it? It was a lovely episode, a fitting end for Peter Capaldi’s Doctor, with masterful performances by both Capaldi and David Bradley (as the First Doctor), and introduced new Doctor Jodie Whitaker in a sequence that left me waiting to see what comes next. There was some stuff that I didn’t like about the episode, but I won’t get into that simply because I don’t have the energy and typing just isn’t that easy these days. I’m going to miss Peter Capaldi’s Doctor for the most part, but won’t miss Steven Moffat’s showrunning.

After the story wrapped up (1-1/2 hours, including adverts), I took my nightly insulin shot, took my evening pill and some of the Gabapentin, and had an early night of it. Once in bed, I read for about twenty minutes, and then tried to get some sleep.

The Human Need December 10, 2017

Yesterday was a strange day.

I woke up feeling relatively all right, as the term “relatively” is used about myself these days. Frankly, it meant that I didn’t scream from the pain in the hand/arm/shoulder/neck/back when I got out of bed.

I went about the morning stuff, and took it fairly easy and didn’t feel all that bad. Since I’ve had some cabin fever of late and really did feel a bit better, I decided to go out and find some companionship. (No, not that way, silly readers! I’m not up for that at the moment, to be honest. But thanks for thinking it.

I risked taking a drive (given my current health state and the medication for pain I’m taking) over to Billings Bridge Centre, as I needed to pick up a 2018 calendar and just wanted some time among the (human) herd, so to speak. So where better than a shopping centre during the Christmas season?

I went up to the food court and had some lunch, and then headed over and picked up the calendar, though not the one I was looking for, before thinking of heading home. But I was quite relaxed and enjoying my time among the human herd. So I went and sat down at a nice, comfy bench with a good cushion on it, and sat and people watched for a couple of hours, and just…absorbed all the human (inter)action around me. By the time I left the shopping mall and got home, I was feeling somewhat more human again…though I did feel very pained in the body parts that are bothering me these days.

Woke up this morning very early, due to the bad pain in the hand/arm/shoulder/neck/back areas, and while I feel I know that I’m paying for the afternoon out, I’m feeling somewhat better about myself and a bit more human again. And that’s all that counts.

In the meantime, I feel like having pancakes for my late breakfast, and that’s what I’m going to do.

It’s another Friday…

…and that means it’s time for another Friday night gaming session. So, I’m getting ready for this evening’s game session with the Friday night group.

The pain that I’m suffering remains the same, and I’m still dealing with it in a bad way. The Friday night group are doing all right, so I’ll be running the game tonight. They’re pretty pleased about this, since we’ve missed the last couple of sessions of gaming. I’m looking forward to tonight’s game session of The Dark Eye this evening.

In the meantime, supper (of some form) needs to be made, and eaten. Then gaming.

Have a good night, folks.

Getting ready for an evening of gaming with the Wednesday night gaming group.

I’ve been having a rough time of it lately, and the pain in my left shoulder, neck, arm and back have gotten worse as time goes on (though I’m still not talking about what’s going on with me in that regard, as there’s too much to absorb still.

In the meantime, the Wednesday night gaming group will start play in their The Dark Eye RPG campaign, starting with character creation this evening for said game.

Hopefully, this will distract me somewhat from the pain that I’m in these days. However, for now I probably should get upstairs and make some supper.

Have a good evening, folks.
