It has been a long, stressful day in many ways. But with a good outcome.

Spent part of the morning shopping for supplies and stuff that I need for the trip down to GenCon Indy 2017 and was pretty tired when I got home for lunch. After lunch, I made my final decision as to the car that I wanted, and went over to the Mazda dealership, Dilawri Mazda, and bought my car.

She’s a 2014 Mazda GS, and her colour is Titanium Flash (fancy paint job, that!). 🙂

Since the car won’t be mine until the insurance is set up and new license plates and registration are established, from Mazda it was getting late so time for supper. Headed over to Boston Pizza once more, and ate a lovely meal of a small caesar salad and a Pizza Bella, washed down with a Heineken.

I couldn’t eat the whole pizza, so took the leftovers home with me for lunch or supper tomorrow night.

Just sitting back and relaxing now, about 10:35 pm, before I have to take my insulin shot. Then bed.

Long day, tiring, exhausting, but rewarding. 🙂

Another day that was exhausting yesterday. Another night of very little sleep. *sigh*

Had a decent night’s sleep on Tuesday night, but woke up with stabbing pain in the arm and shoulder that I’m having trouble with. Not an auspicious start to the day. Tried to do a round of physio exercises, but had almost no mobility and my shoulder and upper back area were in too much pain to do a couple of the exercises.

Made some breakfast and then checked e-mail and the like. Nothing of importance there, and no one’s beating down my door to meet up with me at GenCon Indy. Took as hot a shower as I could, and that helped somewhat with my shoulder though not as much as I would have liked.

Another round of car shopping ensued for a couple of hours. The morning saw me going to Kia to check their cars out, but I didn’t see anything I really liked and I wasn’t enamoured of the test drive of a second-had Forte.

From there, it was off to my Footcare appointment. Things went better than I expected, and my feet felt much better afterwards. Lunch in the building consisted of some hamburger and veggie soup with a grilled cheese sandwich. Satisfying. After lunch it was over to First Choice Haircutters to get my haircut, though by then it was around 2:30 pm and I hoped I wouldn’t have to wait too long for the haircut, as I needed to get in some more car shopping during the late afternoon. I needn’t have worried, as the haircut place was pretty empty and got taken right away by my favourite hairstylist. I’d left it almost two months, quite late, as I’d wanted to get the hair cut right before GenCon, and the hairstylist cut off some 1-1/2 inches of hair. Felt several pounds lighter after the haircut. 🙂

From there, it was back to car shopping. Went to Subaru and Ford, but didn’t find anything affordable, and didn’t like the test drive I did of a Honda something-or-other (not a Civic, since there were none available second-hand at the dealer with the parameters I had in mind). Then stopped at Mitsubishi and ended up with a rookie salesman (he’d only been there for three months) and just about walked out with his lack of knowledge and pushy salesmanship. They had some good second hand cars, but Mitsubishi is also having a sale, and I took a look at a new Mirage once I got a veteran salesperson. The Mirage handled like a dream, and I may go back there again today (Thursday) to see it again.

By this time, it was quite late. Had to go home and relax for a bit, as my shoulder and arm were hurting pretty bad. Mom and my sister went to do a bit of shopping, and then picked me up around 7:30 pm or so, and we went and had a very late supper at Swiss Chalet. A side salad, roast beef and mashed potatoes with mixed vegetables. Didn’t eat the whole meal, as it was getting really late. And then it happened. As we were getting out of the booth, mom cracked my left ankle with her cane.

Suffice it to say, I wasn’t walking well when we came out of Swiss Chalet, and after they dropped me off at the house, I saw that my left ankle had a laceration from the cane and a deep, red indentation from where it hit me. I put my foot up, put an ice pack on it, and took it easy for the rest of the night.

Not a lot of sleep, as I tossed and turned last night due to the shoulder pain and some throbbing from the left ankle. Woke up way too early (if I slept at all), and have been ambling around for a while. Decided to post this blog entry.

Anyway, another physiotherapy session this afternoon, more car shopping, and preparations to make for GenCon. Going to be another exhausting day. Feel like a chicken without a head, and just running around.

*sigh*

An exhausting day.

The day started off with almost no sleep last night due to foot pain (nerve spasms) and the terrible shoulder pain the exercising has caused.

The morning consisted of a round of car shopping. Went to the local Toyota dealer and looked for a second-hand car, but didn’t see anything I really liked. Took a second-hand 2015 Corolla around for a spin and while it handled all right, the seats weren’t comfortable and I wasn’t crazy about the feel for the road. The price was good, though.

From there, went for my physiotherapy appointment and got put through the wringer. The pain in the shoulder was pretty bad, so we tried acupuncture but that didn’t work, and made the neck muscles on that side hurt. Some deep massage helped, and after some electro-stimulation, I felt almost pain-free again. Went to the little restaurant in the building with the physiotherapist for lunch, and had a terrific potato and parmesan soup with a grilled cheese sandwich. Very tasty, and quite satisfying.

After that, it was back to car shopping. Went into Mazda and found they had some good second-hand vehicles. Wanted a Mazda 3 from 2015, but that one had already been sold, but got to look at a decent Mazda 3 from 2014 that was fully equipped and decently priced. Took that vehicle out for a test drive, and it was smooth and sleek and handled like a dream. Could even drive it right-handed, which made things easy and rested my left arm and shoulder. From there, it was over to Hyundi and checked out the cars there. Thought about the Accent but it was too small, and then drove for test with the 2014 Elantra they had. There was a lot of terrible things about the car, the worst being that I had to drive two-handed – and guess what, my left shoulder pain got very bad.

By that time, it was supper time. After stopping at home for pills and meds, my mom, sister and I went over to Boston Pizza for supper again. Terrific meal, including a side salad, hummus and flatbread chips, and spaghetti Bolognese with meatballs and mozzarella for supper. There was enough Bolognese for three people on that plate! So I took the rest of it home with me. Also had a Heineken with supper, and that helped with the shoulder pain somewhat. 🙂

Am now home. And get to do some of this all over again tomorrow.

Totally exhausted.

Getting ready for some Sunday afternoon gaming.

I spoke to SteveR and Tammy earlier in the week, and they decided that they wanted to do some roleplaying this week, given that it’s likely we won’t be gaming next Sunday (due to GenCon Indy being the Tuesday after), so I’m pleased about this. We’ll be playing some Coriolis – The Third Horizon today, as I really want to continue the campaign they’re playing and I also need the practice before GenCon.

In the meantime, I’m running a bit late so I need to get upstairs and make some lunch. Turkey sandwich with a side of cole slaw, I think.

Have a good afternoon, folks.

Getting ready for an evening of gaming with the Friday night group.

Not sure what the players want to do yet tonight, but there’s a strong interest in the Coriolis – The Third Horizon RPG campaign, as they were having quite a bit of fun with it. So I’ve spent a bit of the afternoon refreshing myself on the system and the campaign scenario they’re playing to this point.

Looking forward to whatever the players decide to play this evening.

In the meantime, I need to figure out what to do for supper tonight.

Have a good evening, folks.

Physiotherapy Appointment Results August 4, 2017

It’s Friday morning.

I feel pretty good this morning, but the left shoulder and the area there are hurting pretty bad. Probably due to the “exercise” it got yesterday.

Speaking of which, I had my physiotherapy assessment and first treatment yesterday afternoon. I managed to get to the appointment barely on time (they only do assessments at certain times, so if you’re not on time, they may not be able to take you) due to a snafu with ParaTranspo that had me end up taking a taxi to the appointment.

Once checked in, the assessment took something like 45 minutes. The verdict is that I tore the upper back muscle that connects to the shoulder and rotator cuff some 5 months ago, and it has not healed properly (likely due to overuse). In addition, there’s a lot of edema and damage to the shoulder and muscles around the joint. Physiotherapy will help it a lot, but the physiotherapist discouraged me from getting a steroid shot in the shoulder, as she didn’t think it would help (since there’s no real problem with the shoulder socket itself).

I then underwent the first treatment session that consisted of some exercises, a deep massage on the area (that hurt like the dickens), and finally some electro stimulation. I felt much better after the session, and have booked two more appointments for next week. She also advised me not to lift anything relatively heavy and to not extend the arm too far or raise it higher than my shoulder for a little while, as this could aggravate things. Will definitely make things interesting when I go down to Indianapolis in around 12 days. *sigh*

After the appointment, I had a really good lunch at the coffeeshop/cafeteria in the building: a nice bowl of hamburger and veggie soup with a roast beef and havarti wrap. Filling, and satisfying. After that, I went home and did some work on stuff that I’ve been meaning to do.

My only complaint today is the fact that my shoulder is hurting like hell, as mentioned above. Meds and some tidying around the house and a bit of reading will help. I hope.

Another Friday, another gaming night. 🙂

I spoke to the Friday night players last night, and they said they really want to play a game this evening, but they weren’t picky as to whether it would be a roleplaying game or a board game. Since I’m feeling all right, except for the arm and shoulder business and some pains and problems with my feet, I told them this morning in e-mail that gaming was on for tonight.

I’m not sure whether I want to play a board game or do some roleplaying game stuff tonight, but I’ll see what the players’ tastes are for the evening when they arrive, and we’ll roll from there.

In the meantime, I need to make some supper. Not sure what to eat either, but it will involve some pasta as the grain.

Have a good night, folks.

Another Friday afternoon, late. Another nap, nice.

Getting ready to head upstairs and make some supper. The Friday gaming group is coming out to play this evening, but I’m not sure what we’re going to do. Other than play a game of some sort, I guess. 🙂 I’ve got no plans for what I’d like to play (or run, if they decide to play an RPG), but will happily go along with the Friday players’ decision once they arrive.

In the meantime, another couple of pain pills, and then supper of some sort. (Will see what’s in the fridge and the freezer.)

Have a good evening, folks. 🙂

It’s late Friday afternoon, and I’ve just had a nice nap. Feeling a bit more myself.

I spoke to the Friday night group of players about the matter, and they’ve agreed that they’re fine playing a or some board games this evening. No plans in my mind about what game to play, but we’ll see what the players decide on once everyone is here.

In the meantime, I need to take a couple of pain pills, and then make some supper before gaming this evening. Looking forward to it.

Have a good evening, folks. 🙂

Getting ready for this evening’s game session with the Friday night group.

Wasn’t sure after this afternoon’s tests that I’d be up to gaming tonight, but a bit of a nap when I got home and some fluid replacement seems to have helped a lot.

Not sure what I’ll be running this evening or whether we’ll be playing a board game, but the Friday night players have expressed an interest in the Ambrosia fantasy RPG, so I’ve been reading up on that a bit this late afternoon, in preparation, just in case.

Anyway, time for some supper and then an evening of gaming. Looking forward to it, to be honest.

Have a good night, folks. 🙂
