Happy Hanukkah! December 12, 2017

Today is the first day of Hanukkah, the Jewish Festival of Lights that is usually around much earlier in the month than Christmas, and lasts a bit longer than Christmas does. Well, actually Hanukkah begins at sundown, so we’re all good.

I want to wish everyone out there a very Happy Hanukkah.

The gifts I would like this year aren’t really all that complicated. Well, most of them anyway. First off, a year (relatively) free of illness. Second, a year free of shoulder/back/neck/arm/hand pain (caused most likely by the problems with my cervical spine) and foot pain (caused by whatever). Third, for my diabetes management to be under better control. For life to be less stressful for the most part. And finally, for peace on earth, and an end to war.

So Chag Sameach to all my Jewish friends, and enjoy the Festival of Lights for this year!

Happy Thanksgiving Day to all my friends and everyone down in the United States today.

Turkey Day means you’re all going to get stuffed with roast bird and all, but it’s also a day for being thankful for all the things in life that you have – family, friends, and other stuff.

Enjoy, all! 🙂

Today is Remembrance Day.

On this particular Remembrance Day, it seems doubly important to remember and give witness after some of the events here in Canada and abroad recently.

I just want to say *THANK YOU* to those who serve. And I want to thank those who served and died for our country and for the cause of peace all these years.

REMEMBER THEM.

‘Nuff said.

Halloween.

Kids running up and down the streets, shouting “Trick or treat!” at the top of their lungs, obedient parents in tow. People dressing up in various costumes, some good some bad. All sorts of Halloween candies, toffee, and caramel apples, pumpkin pie, pumpkin cookies, and so forth. Hollowed out pumpkins in windows lit by a single candle within. Witches, ghoulies, and goblins, oh my.

I just want to wish everyone a Happy Halloween!

Be safe, treat the kids right tonight, and watch out for all those Donald Trump and Harvey Weinstein look-alikes! 🙂

Today is National Fossil Day.

National Fossil Day is a celebration organized to promote public awareness and stewardship of fossils, as well as to foster a greater appreciation of their scientific and educational value.

So check out some fossils at some point today. And even if you couldn’t visit a museum or park this National Fossil Day, ancient creatures will be glad to see you whenever you can meet them at a museum or other venue of your choice.

Happy Thanksgiving Day, Canada!

Woke up to a relatively chilly day here in the Ottawa valley (around 11oC, about 51oF), actually weather that’s about normal for this time of year.

I want to wish all my Canadian friends a very good day, and one that is filled with all sorts of reasons for being thankful.

To honour this day, I thought I would just share a bit of Canadian music from Nova Scotia musician Melanie Doane…

To all my Canadian friends and peeps, here’s wishing you a Happy Thanksgiving. 🙂

And for all my goyim friends out there, a good (Jewish) new year to you, as well. You’re welcome. 🙂

Hope everyone is having a good day.

It’s the Labour Day weekend Monday here in Canada, so most folks are off work for the day.

While the week ahead likely to be a tough one, what with doctors’ appointments that I have scheduled and some other stuff going on, I’m planning on taking it relatively easy today and not going to stress out over anything if I can help it.

In any event, hope everyone has a good day. 🙂

Monday, the civic holiday here in Canada. Colonel By Day, officially.

I’m feeling somewhat giddy after the gaming experience on the weekend, but am still hurting quite a lot in the left shoulder and the area of the various muscles that come off the shoulder. My exercises are helping somewhat, but stressing the body parts, I suspect. To make things worse, my allergies are driving me crazy, to be honest. I have no real plans for the day, other than to do a bit of laundry, since I need to start sorting out some of the clothes for this year’s GenCon Indy trip.

I’ve got three medical appointments the last four days of the week, so that should make life interesting this week as well.
