Wednesday morning.

A rather gloomy day outside, not a lot of sun at the moment, although the weather is supposed to clear up and get a bit warmer (for a winter’s day in January), so that’s a good sign.

I’ve got no gaming tonight with the Wednesday night players, as this is the gaming week off, so I’ll be able to sit back and relax this evening.

Of note today is that I do have another dentist appointment today. Nothing major… The dentist is going to do some bonding on three of my teeth.

Meanwhile, back to work.

Woke up this morning somewhat tired, under the weather, and a bit depressed. The view outside the window, gloomy and snowing, didn’t help my mood, but I hauled myself out of bed and got ready for breakfast, and then work.

I got to work around 7:00 am this morning, and after checking what was on the agenda for the day at the office, had my first cup of herbal tea. Feeling somewhat better now, no doubt aided by the fact that I’m relatively busy and have been thinking about the afternoon and this evening’s plans.

In the meantime, back to work.

New Year’s Eve Thoughts December 31, 2016

So, here we are, once again. New Year’s Eve.

I haven’t planned to do much this New Year’s Eve, other than to relax and have a relatively quiet evening, and I don’t expect that to change. I’m just looking forward to ringing in the new year as quietly as I can, and it seems fitting that I’ll be doing so on my own with a bottle of shandy.

Not even sure that I’ll be awake at the stroke of midnight, depending on how I feel and all.

In any event, I would like to wish all my friends a very safe, healthy, and Happy New Year. Be good to yourselves, be good to each other, and I’ll catch you here again in 2017. 🙂

Final Day of 2016 December 31, 2016

It’s the last day of 2016.

Thank Goddess this year is coming to an end. Sure, there have been some good moments in time this past year, but 2016 saw too many deaths of beloved figures in both music and entertainment, a change in U.S. politics whose ramifications will be felt most strongly in 2017, and the senseless slaughter of too many people world-wide in acts of terrorism and sheer evil. Add to that the rough times I’ve had this year health-wise and in other regards that I’ve not discussed this year, and… Well, to reiterate, good riddance to 2016.

It’s a Saturday morning, so I’m sitting here at home taking it relatively easy. The weather outside is cold, and the snow is coming down (there’s supposed to be another 15-20 centimeters of the white stuff today and tonight), and I feel as if I’ve not really slept all that well last night. I don’t intend to do a lot of stuff today, and I’ll see how I feel later in the day.

Time to clean the dishes, and take a nice, hot shower. Hopefully the latter will make me feel somewhat better.

Yesterday was Christmas Day. Being a single fellow, with little family left in the world, ’twas a day where I got to spend much of it on my own.

I woke up to find that my leg pain had diminished somewhat overnight, and that I was comfortably toasty in bed. I decided to lay in a bit longer, since there was no gaming for the day (and even if there had been, I wouldn’t be running it so there! 😛 ), and when I did get up, I headed upstairs for breakfast.

Had a nice breakfast of croissants and café au lait, and then went back to bed for a bit, and snoozed. Got up and jotted down an idea or two for a couple of Coriolis – The Third Horizon RPG scenarios, and then made some notes in the margins about them. Quite pleased with myself about this material, but we’ll see how it shapes up after the game actually comes out. I did a bit of reading before showering, and then had a relatively early lunch.

After lunch, I did a bit of vacuuming in the bedroom and the living room, and then relaxed and took another nap. Then it was time to watch the second disc of the 3rd season of Rizzoli & Isles, and rather enjoyed that.

I had myself a healthy meal for supper, consisting of roast chicken, a salad, some cooked snow peas, and lentils with cumin and onion. Yummy! For dessert, I had a couple of latkes (a Hanukkah tradition) with some apple sauce and drizzled honey. Even Yummier! 🙂 After cleaning the dishes away, I sat back and watched the evening’s new episode of The Librarians, followed by the Doctor Who Christmas special, “The Return of Doctor Mysterio”. It was a fun, light-hearted episode, that wasn’t Christmas-y at all, had a lot of nods to the superhero genre, and was a terrific Peter Capaldi outing.

I wrapped up the evening with my nightly insulin shot, and then went to bed and did some more reading before falling asleep.

It’s December 1st. A new month.

To be honest, I’m glad that November is over, though I am dreading the true coming of winter this month, but given how last month went, just happy December has arrived.

Being Jewish and a singleton, December tends to be a depressing month for me, though I do have some family and a few friends that will try to lighten the mood. That said, there’s all kinds of other stuff that December brings, so we’ll see how the month goes.

Medically, the month will be a quiet one, with just my Footcare appointment to deal with, but I’ve got some other stuff going on at the moment, so we’ll see how that shapes up and all. As for the rest of December, I’m hoping it passes quietly, there’s not a lot of snow ::knock on wood::, and that someone buys me a Christmas present of some sort! 🙂

The real trick for me in December (well, most of the winter, really) is to manage to keep warm. The arthritis that I have is one thing, but the neuropathy damage from the diabetes that I do have makes winter tough on my keeping the extremities warm.

Sunday morning. *stretches*

A cool morning here, once more today, but promises to go up to around 14oC! Crazy November weather. May have to go for a walk today.

I had a good Saturday night gaming session with the three Friday night players, and they rather enjoyed themselves with Coriolis – The Third Horizon. I’ll blog about this later today, but suffice it to say lots of fun.

I managed to get around 7 hours of sleep last night, but am not feeling bright-eyed and bushy-tailed this morning. Ever since I got the flu shot and we turned the clocks back an hour (a stupid practice, if you ask me), I’ve not been feeling right and am somewhat tired all the time. Adjustment period, perhaps? That said, I do feel pretty good today, so something’s going right, huh? 🙂

Since the Sunday group is not gaming today (due to Tammy working), I’ll be taking it relatively easy. I’ve got some cleaning up to do in the den, may watch a DVD or PVR or two, and listen to some music. And may also do a bit of personal writing (some of which I intend to post down the line here on my WordPress blog.

For now, going to head into the shower, and then have a cup of tea.

Another day, another non-dollar.

It’s Saturday morning, and the sun is shining outside, but it’s a bitterly cold day. (Not to be unexpected at this time of year, unfortunately, though at least the sun is out.)

I don’t have a lot planned for the day, and hope to spend most of the day inside, nice and warm and comfy, just relaxing and not really doing anything. I’ll likely go out this afternoon and get some photocopying done of some Coriolis – The Third Horizon character sheets. Three of the Friday night players (the ones not suffering from the flu) will be over this evening to create some sample characters, and I’m looking forward to that.

In the meantime, a bit of reading today, some editing work possibly, and just taking it easy for the most part. And staying warm.

Something weird for Halloween.

It concerns the Tollund Man. What is the Tollund Man? Check out this National Geographic piece.

But that’s not the best part.

Gotta love this stuff. And can’t make it up for Halloween, even! 🙂

A Sore Feet Day October 28, 2016

It has been a somewhat difficult week, with all sorts of shite going on. I didn’t feel like inflicting it on the folks who read my LJ or WordPress blogs, and so have not (and am not) doing so.

The weather since last night has been quite nasty, with snow and rain, and the temperatures are cold. This is not helping my leg/ankle pain, and it’s also made me feel every arthritic pain that I’ve got. It’s supposed to warm up somewhat today, but it isn’t warm enough for my taste (if you take my meaning), and this is obviously the start of late Fall or early Winter so…ick.

Yesterday was my regularly scheduled Footcare appointment. As a result, my feet have been in seriously agonising pain today, and I have managed to work from home. I have taken a very high dose of Tylenol (as per the doctor’s orders), and this has helped somewhat, but it’s been a very…painful day, and not all that enjoyable. Work has helped distract me somewhat though, so this is a good thing.
