Getting ready for another Sunday afternoon gaming session.

SteveR and Tammy will once again be doing some playtesting and playing through one of the game systems and scenarios that I’ll be running at CanGames 2018 this May. They’ll be playing the Capharnaum – The Tales of the Dragon-Marked Roleplaying Game this afternoon, specifically the adventure that I’ll be running at the convention. (SteveR is quite disapppointed as he won’t be able to play in the Saturday evening session of this at CanGames.) Looking forward to the game today, though a bit concerned of what the players will think of the game mechanics.

In the meantime, I need to make some lunch, and then get to the gaming.

Have a good afternoon, folks.

It’s almost Sunday afternoon.

And that means it’s time for Sunday afternoon gaming.

Truth be told, I’m feeling somewhat under the weather. Got a bad headache, some chills, sinus congestion, lots of phlegm, and a moderate cough. (And that’s aside from the cervical spine issues on the left side of my body.) However, I spoke to both Tammy and , and both agreed they were willing to play this afternoon and take their chances on my health not being contagious.

We’ll be playing some The Dark Eye RPG this afternoon, as I actually manage to start the game campaign, so I’m quite looking forward to this. That said, gonna have to take decent notes on stuff today, as I’m sure I won’t remember much of the game session come the beginning of the week given the state of my head.

Like I said, looking forward to gaming. In the meantime, I need to figure out something light to eat for lunch.

Have a good afternoon, folks.

*cough, cough*

It’s Sunday.

That means it’s time for Sunday afternoon gaming.

This will be the first session of gaming with the Sunday players since last year (2017), and to be honest, I’ve been missing the gaming group. Between SteveR having surgery and his recovery time and Tammy’s on-call work schedule, this is the first Sunday session in a while.

We’ll be playing some The Dark Eye RPG is all I know for sure. The players are somewhere in that no man’s land between character generation/sample combats and actually starting to play the campaign. I’m (sort of) prepared for all eventualities, and am looking forwardd to gaming today, but we’ll see what we’ll see once the players arrive.

In the meantime, I need to figure out some lunch and then get set for the afternoon.

Have a good afternoon, folks.

Had another physiotherapy appointment yesterday afternoon. Only my third appointment since coming back from GenCon.

Woke up yesterday morning, and didn’t feel all that great. Lots of pain, and some dizziness. Managed to eat some scrambled eggs with veggies and cheese for breakfast, then showered, and then took care of a couple of laundry issues. Headed out for the physio clinic, “Quality Care Physiotherapy, and got there in time for my appointment, though I had problems parking the car.

The physio appointment went relatively well, though not without a lot of pain involved, and when I was finished I made two appointments for next week. I went downstairs to the small little restaurant in the building, ETC, and had a bowl of broccoli and cauliflower soup with a grilled cheese sandwich and some side greens for lunch. Yummy! 🙂

I dropped off at mom’s place and picked her up, and then took her to the local Basics store. After shopping with her, my who left side of the body was hurting again. All the physio care wasted. I took the groceries I’d picked up and went home after dropping her off at her place, and took another painkiller.

Spent a quiet evening watching the Ottawa Senators continue their losing ways with a 4-1 loss to the St. Louis Blues, and then read for about half an hour. Took care of the nightly insulin shot and then washed up and went to bed. And didn’t sleep much…again.

*sigh*

Getting ready for this afternoon’s game session with the Sunday players.

The Sunday afternoon gamers will be continuing on with The Dark Eye RPG this afternoon, hopefully wrapping up character creation (that they started last Sunday) and possibly getting into some basic mechanics examples and some sample combats.

I’m looking forward to this afternoon’s session, but at the same time am somewhat intimidated and nervous. (Not sure why.)

In the meantime, lunch needs to be eaten. Then gaming.

Have a good afternoon, folks.

Getting ready for an afternoon of gaming with the Sunday gaming group.

Now that SteveR and Tammy have wrapped up the scenario for Coriolis – The Third Horizon that they were playing in, it’s time to get in some fantasy roleplaying (as I’ve not run some fantasy for a while now). The Sunday players will be starting in on The Dark Eye RPG this afternoon, and will obviously begin with the character creation process. I’m quite looking forward to this, to be honest! 🙂

In the meantime, I need to hobble upstairs and get some lunch made.

Have a good afternoon, folks.

Getting ready for an afternoon of gaming with the Sunday gaming group.

My feet are bothering me pretty badly, a lot of pain in the left foot where the blisters haven’t broken (but I feel like I’m walking on a small pocket of fluid or whatever), and my left shoulder is bothering me a lot. Here’s hoping the gaming will distract me from the pain that’s going on and focus on something else (i.e., the gaming).

The Sunday gamers and I will be wrapping up the Coriolis – The Third Horizon RPG scenario that they’re doing for the moment, and if time permits we’re going to start in on stuff for the The Dark Eye campaign that I’m planning to run, though probably won’t get to character creation until next weekend.

Meanwhile, it’s time to head into the shower, and then hobble upstairs to make some lunch.

Have a good afternoon, folks.

Getting ready for an afternoon of gaming with the Sunday gaming group.

To be honest, I wasn’t sure that I’d be able to game today given that my feet are really bothering me today and I’m in a modicum of pain, but I’m hoping the distraction of gaming will make me feel better and allow me to focus on something other than the blisters and cellulitis.

We’ll be continuing on with the Coriolis – The Third Horizon RPG campaign this afternoon, and I’m rather looking forward to this, as I’m hoping to bring the first scenario for the Sunday group to a close.

Anyway, time to head into the bathroom for another sitz bath, since I’m not yet allowed to shower properly. After that, SteveR will hopefully arrive with some lunch.

Have a good afternoon, folks.

An Exhausting Day (Cars, Haircut and Food) August 10, 2017

Another day that was exhausting yesterday. Another night of very little sleep. *sigh*

Had a decent night’s sleep on Tuesday night, but woke up with stabbing pain in the arm and shoulder that I’m having trouble with. Not an auspicious start to the day. Tried to do a round of physio exercises, but had almost no mobility and my shoulder and upper back area were in too much pain to do a couple of the exercises.

Made some breakfast and then checked e-mail and the like. Nothing of importance there, and no one’s beating down my door to meet up with me at GenCon Indy. Took as hot a shower as I could, and that helped somewhat with my shoulder though not as much as I would have liked.

Another round of car shopping ensued for a couple of hours. The morning saw me going to Kia to check their cars out, but I didn’t see anything I really liked and I wasn’t enamoured of the test drive of a second-had Forte.

From there, it was off to my Footcare appointment. Things went better than I expected, and my feet felt much better afterwards. Lunch in the building consisted of some hamburger and veggie soup with a grilled cheese sandwich. Satisfying. After lunch it was over to First Choice Haircutters to get my haircut, though by then it was around 2:30 pm and I hoped I wouldn’t have to wait too long for the haircut, as I needed to get in some more car shopping during the late afternoon. I needn’t have worried, as the haircut place was pretty empty and got taken right away by my favourite hairstylist. I’d left it almost two months, quite late, as I’d wanted to get the hair cut right before GenCon, and the hairstylist cut off some 1-1/2 inches of hair. Felt several pounds lighter after the haircut. 🙂

From there, it was back to car shopping. Went to Subaru and Ford, but didn’t find anything affordable, and didn’t like the test drive I did of a Honda something-or-other (not a Civic, since there were none available second-hand at the dealer with the parameters I had in mind). Then stopped at Mitsubishi and ended up with a rookie salesman (he’d only been there for three months) and just about walked out with his lack of knowledge and pushy salesmanship. They had some good second hand cars, but Mitsubishi is also having a sale, and I took a look at a new Mirage once I got a veteran salesperson. The Mirage handled like a dream, and I may go back there again today (Thursday) to see it again.

By this time, it was quite late. Had to go home and relax for a bit, as my shoulder and arm were hurting pretty bad. Mom and my sister went to do a bit of shopping, and then picked me up around 7:30 pm or so, and we went and had a very late supper at Swiss Chalet. A side salad, roast beef and mashed potatoes with mixed vegetables. Didn’t eat the whole meal, as it was getting really late. And then it happened. As we were getting out of the booth, mom cracked my left ankle with her cane.

Suffice it to say, I wasn’t walking well when we came out of Swiss Chalet, and after they dropped me off at the house, I saw that my left ankle had a laceration from the cane and a deep, red indentation from where it hit me. I put my foot up, put an ice pack on it, and took it easy for the rest of the night.

Not a lot of sleep, as I tossed and turned last night due to the shoulder pain and some throbbing from the left ankle. Woke up way too early (if I slept at all), and have been ambling around for a while. Decided to post this blog entry.

Anyway, another physiotherapy session this afternoon, more car shopping, and preparations to make for GenCon. Going to be another exhausting day. Feel like a chicken without a head, and just running around.

*sigh*

An exhausting day.

The day started off with almost no sleep last night due to foot pain (nerve spasms) and the terrible shoulder pain the exercising has caused.

The morning consisted of a round of car shopping. Went to the local Toyota dealer and looked for a second-hand car, but didn’t see anything I really liked. Took a second-hand 2015 Corolla around for a spin and while it handled all right, the seats weren’t comfortable and I wasn’t crazy about the feel for the road. The price was good, though.

From there, went for my physiotherapy appointment and got put through the wringer. The pain in the shoulder was pretty bad, so we tried acupuncture but that didn’t work, and made the neck muscles on that side hurt. Some deep massage helped, and after some electro-stimulation, I felt almost pain-free again. Went to the little restaurant in the building with the physiotherapist for lunch, and had a terrific potato and parmesan soup with a grilled cheese sandwich. Very tasty, and quite satisfying.

After that, it was back to car shopping. Went into Mazda and found they had some good second-hand vehicles. Wanted a Mazda 3 from 2015, but that one had already been sold, but got to look at a decent Mazda 3 from 2014 that was fully equipped and decently priced. Took that vehicle out for a test drive, and it was smooth and sleek and handled like a dream. Could even drive it right-handed, which made things easy and rested my left arm and shoulder. From there, it was over to Hyundi and checked out the cars there. Thought about the Accent but it was too small, and then drove for test with the 2014 Elantra they had. There was a lot of terrible things about the car, the worst being that I had to drive two-handed – and guess what, my left shoulder pain got very bad.

By that time, it was supper time. After stopping at home for pills and meds, my mom, sister and I went over to Boston Pizza for supper again. Terrific meal, including a side salad, hummus and flatbread chips, and spaghetti Bolognese with meatballs and mozzarella for supper. There was enough Bolognese for three people on that plate! So I took the rest of it home with me. Also had a Heineken with supper, and that helped with the shoulder pain somewhat. 🙂

Am now home. And get to do some of this all over again tomorrow.

Totally exhausted.
