Haven’t posted in a couple of days.

Nothing really new to report. My health is pretty sad at the moment, in terms of my left shoulder; the pain is getting worse, every day, and I don’t have a good feeling about what’s going to happen at the doctor’s next Tuesday when I finally get the report on the ultrasound that was done a week (or is it two now?) ago. On top of that, if the doctor has to refer me to a shoulder specialist (orthopedist, I think?) it might take a month
or longer to get an appointment. Meanwhile, the shoulder is just going from bad to worse.

As for today, well…the fourth official day of my retirement from work. Doesn’t seem to make a difference to my overall mindset, but we’ll see how I feel after today’s appointment. Yes, I have an appointment this afternoon at Ottawa Respiratory Services; the doctor must have thought there was something to book me an appointment there.

I need to be there in the next hour and a half, so time to head out the door. Then find somewhere to eat lunch after the tests are done.

Aside from it being my birthday, today has been a very strange day.

I woke up this morning, and realised it was late (around 8:30 am) but that I didn’t have to go to work today. As of Saturday, July 1st, I’m retired.

I’m not going to say all that much here, other than to add that I’m going to take some time off thinking about working again (other than the freelance rpg editing that I do), but will see what I want to do with my life, maybe volunteer or go to work in a bookstore or something, after GenCon 2017 (assuming that I go, since no idea what will happen with my shoulder before then).

For now, just taking it easy.

Last Day of June June 30, 2017

It’s the last day of June, 2017.

And in all honesty, I can’t wait for this month to be over.

I’m not going to go into details about why I’ll be happy to see June in the rear view mirror (all you have to do is read some of the blog entries of the past month to see what’s been going on health-wise with me), but it will be good to start looking forward to the month of July and all the stuff that’s happening in it. July will hopefully start off with some gaming, so I’m looking forward to that.

Work today is as busy as I expected it to be, given that it’s an abbreviated work week due to Canada Day tomorrow, but this is good as it’s keeping me distracted from the thought that this is my last day on the job, as I retire effective July 1st.

Wonder what I’ll do next week to keep my mind off the ultrasound results and worrying about all sorts of stuff. Anyway, back to work.
