Well, today is the start of CanGames, the local gaming convention here in Ottawa. While I’m not working a day job these days, I’ve managed to spend a bit of time since I got up putting together some of the stuff that I need for the convention.

Once more, for those who are going to the convention or who might be interested, here’s the listing of the games that I’m running with times and descriptions included…

*****
Day 1: The Living Land
Game: Torg Eternity RPG
Time: Friday, 7:00 pm – 11:00 pm
Number of Players: 6
Description: Six innocent strangers are transformed into heroes as an invading reality crashes down around them. They must work together to survive the strange and terrifying world that now surrounds them; a world of dinosaurs & death where once reliable machines no longer function. A Storm is coming…and it has a name!

The Diplomats of Mars
Game: John Carter of Mars – The Roleplaying Game
Time: Saturday, 2:00 pm – 6:00 pm
Number of Players: 5
Description: A simple, diplomatic mission to the small Red Martian kingdom of Voninka turns into a matter of survival and getting back to Helium alive! You’ll have to abandon fine words and the arts of diplomacy for a sword and a radium pistol. Are you up to the challenge? An adventure for the new John Carter of Mars Roleplaying Game.

The Tears of Ampharool
Game: Capharnaum – The Tales of the Dragon-Marked RPG
Time: Saturday, 6:00 pm – 11:00 pm
Number of Players: 5
Description: While travelling through the Desert of Fire, your caravan is surrounded by a great sandstorm and attacked by mysterious, perhaps ghostly assailants… After the storm, the characters see a fabulous palace above the sands, and the promise of adventure. And that’s just the beginning! Capharnaum – The Tales of the Dragon-Marked is a fantasy rpg set in an imaginary Arabia-like world, that borrows from the tales of the One Thousand and One Nights, as well as semitic legends and the ancient and mediaeval epics. Flamboyant and mythical, filled with light and thrilling adventure!

The Burden of Glory
Game: Torg Eternity RPG
Time: Sunday, 2:00 pm – 6:00 pm
Number of Players: 6
Description: The Delphi Council has located a stela and dispatched Storm Knights to uproot it and restore a zone to Core Earth. Along the way, a new opportunity tempts your team. Could anything be more important than pushing back the High Lords? (Note that this is an Infiniverse event; the choices players make here impact how the Possibility Wars unfold in the future.)
*****

I’ve also got a bunch of stuff that I’ll be selling at the convention this year (you can see the list of games for sale in this blog entry, and hopefully I can sell this stuff for some reasonable sums, as I could use a bit of money for later in the year.

Health-wise, I have a couple of problems that I’ve gone into in other posts, so won’t dwell on here. Since I am have walking problems because of the diabetes, don’t be surprised if I take off my shoes at times during the course of the convention. The weekend should be interesting, to say the least.

I won’t be posting any blog entries during the weekend, so folks will have to wait for when I’ve got time at the start of next week and into the week itself for reports and the like (not to mention any photos I do take) about CanGames 2018. I may tweet from the convention on my mobile phone over the weekend, and will hopefully take a few photos as well of stuff for posting here and elsewhere.

In any event, I hope I’ll see some of you at the convention. Since you’ve seen the photo of me here on my blog, you’ll know who to look for. The hair’s a bit more gray, and there’s a bit less of it, that’s all. 🙂

Geez, it’s the Friday before CanGames already.

This means that the 2018 edition of CanGames, the local Ottawa gaming convention being held at the Rideau Curling Club, is merely seven (7) (!!) days away, as it begins on Friday (the 18th of May). Hope to see folks from Ottawa and the surroundings, as well as folks from farther away, attending the convention.

And here’s just a reminder of what I’ll be running this year at CanGames.

CanGames 2018 is coming up in just over a week, so I thought I’d post this here…

I’ll be running two game sessions of the Torg Eternity RPG at CanGames this year, the first on Friday night, May 18th, at 7:00 pm and the second on Sunday afternoon, May 20th, at 2:00 pm. The Friday night adventure is called “Day 1: The Living Land” and has the following blurb.

*****

The Sunday afternoon session was supposed to be the same adventure, but this has changed to one that has a direct import on the Possibility Wars. The blurb for the scenario, “The Burden of Glory”, is below.

There are still plenty of player slots available for both games, so if you’re attending CanGames 2018 this year, please consider signing up for the game(s). It’s a great game, with a relatively simple game system, and you won’t regret it. 🙂

Looking forward to seeing folks at this year’s CanGames.

It’s April 18th, and do you know what that means?

If you’re in the Ottawa area, and planning to attend the game convention, CanGames 2018 is exactly one month away!

Eeek! 🙂

So I thought I’d re-post up a listing of the game sessions I’ll be running at CanGames this year.

And while the programme book and on-line schedule list a second running of the “Day 1: Living Land” scenario, Sunday’s game is going to be something…special, instead…

The Burden of Glory
Game: Torg Eternity RPG
Time: Sunday, 2:00 pm – 6:00 pm

There are still plenty of spots for folks to play as of this writing in both the Friday and Sunday afternoon Torg Eternity sessions, and the Saturday evening session of Capharnaum – The Tales of the Dragon-Marked is short players as well. The Saturday afternoon session of John Carter of Mars could also use a few more players as well… So I hope to see some of the folks reading this blog entry at the convention and (please!) playing in these games. And even if you’re not playing in my games, come by and see me and say “Hi!” at this year’s CanGames.

Like I said, one month away! Hooray! 🙂

It’s that time of year again! 🙂

CanGames 2018 registration has opened!

So it’s time to register for a membership at the convention, sign up for a few games at the convention, and get into the gaming spirit that will culminate in the convention in just under three (3) months.

I just got back home from Fandom II here in Ottawa, and took care of my registration for the convention there. I’ll be running four (4) game sessions at the convention; you can check this blog entry of mine for the list and full description of the stuff I’ll be running there!

Hope to see you there!

For those who are interested, the early(bird) version of the gaming schedule for this year’s CanGames, to be held May 18th – 20th at the Rideau Curling Club here in Ottawa, has been posted up to the website. (You can find the schedule here, as they’re using the on-line schedule manager Sched once again this year.) Note that early Registration for CanGames 2018 is due to open on February 24th, so that’s a good thing.

Now that they’ve been confirmed, without further ado, here’s the schedule of games that I’ll be running at the convention. Since CanGames is using a piece of software that limits the blurb to thirty (30) words, I’ve included here the full blurb about each scenario. 🙂

Wednesday Game Schedule Change January 3, 2018

Normally, I would have been scheduled to play tonight with the Wednesday gaming group, but I had heard from Donna late yesterday afternoon that they’ve had a re-think about matters.

The gist of the matter comes down to the fact that while they’re enjoying roleplaying gaming, they would rather play once per month, rather than once every two weeks. Part of this has to do with Real Life(tm) commitments as well as other stuff unconnected to gaming. In conversations with the players the last day or so, the consensus is that the Wednesday night players will game once a month, on the third Wednesday of the month.

While I have to say that I was expecting some sort of change to the Wednesday gaming schedule, since I’ve seen it coming for a while now, I’m happy they decided to continue playing (even if only one session in the month).

So I’m looking forward to the game session on the 17th of January.

As most folks know, GenCon Indy 2017 (GenCon 50!) begins next week. So I figured I should post something up about my itinerary for the convention. I’m set to fly to Indy on the Tuesday, 15th of August, and I’ll be coming back to Ottawa on Monday, 21st of August, during the mid- to late evening. Yes, that’s right… I’m actually going to spend the whole Sunday in Indy so I can take in a bit more of the convention and all, and use the extra day to get some rest that night. will be flying down for the convention with me, so that’s cool.

I don’t have any stuff really scheduled for the convention, other than a couple of games I’ll be running and a game I hope I’ll be able to get into. I’ll be running two Coriolis – The Third Horizon RPG sessions (the same adventure) this year, and I’m looking forward to those. Here’s the listings of the games I’ll be running at the convention, for those who might be interested. While both the Friday afternoon and Saturday evening games are supposedly full, there’s always a chance as sometimes folks at GenCon don’t come out for their games, so remember those Generic tickets!

I’ve got a couple of other places I have to be, notably during the Wednesday evening and during Saturday afternoon, but if folks want to meet up with me, play stuff or whatever, please get in touch with me, and we can arrange something. I’ll be staying at the Westin Indianapolis but you can leave me a message on Twitter or drop me a text message on my mobile, if necessary.

In any event, I’m looking forward to seeing folks at the convention. Hope to meet up with old friends, and make some new friends. Oh, and do some gaming, of course! 🙂

As I mentioned in an earlier post, I’ll be running some a couple of times, I’ll be running some Coriolis – The Third Horizon scenarios at this year’s GenCon Indy. Today, the initial gaming schedule for GenCon 50 will go on-line in about 15 minutes, and I was pleased to learn in an e-mail yesterday (Saturday) that the two games I’ll be running were finally confirmed as being on the schedule, so today potential players can sign up to play in the games.

So here’s the listings on the games that I’ll be running for those that might be interested. I don’t know how quickly the games will fill with players once the game registration process opens at the end of May, but if you’d like to play “Arabian Nights in space” with me, please consider adding the games to your wish list and signing up for them.

As most folks know, today is Mother’s Day.

Due to various things going on for Mother’s Day in Tammy life, the Sunday gaming group will not be playing today.

I had been looking forward to playtesting “The Dixmude Affair” for the Primeval RPG that I’ll be running at CanGames in one week, but alas and alack, that will not happen today.

So I’m going to spend some time today doing Mother’s Day things, some reading, maybe watching some DVD and/or PVR stuff, and just having a nice quiet Sunday. Oh, and browsing through the initial schedule for GenCon 50 that will go on-line in just over half an hour.
