Just got home from the appointment with the doctor.

This appointment was the follow-up to the previous appointment, and the second MRI that I had done last week.

The MRI(s) results were…not good. I’m still coming to terms with the results, and their implications for me. In the meantime, I’ve got to see a specialist to decide what to do about the (major) problem that has come up. I have to call the specialist tomorrow to set up an appointment to see him.

Meanwhile, the back/shoulder/arm/neck pain continues to worsen.

Nothing more to add at this point.

Physiotherapy Appointment Results August 4, 2017

It’s Friday morning.

I feel pretty good this morning, but the left shoulder and the area there are hurting pretty bad. Probably due to the “exercise” it got yesterday.

Speaking of which, I had my physiotherapy assessment and first treatment yesterday afternoon. I managed to get to the appointment barely on time (they only do assessments at certain times, so if you’re not on time, they may not be able to take you) due to a snafu with ParaTranspo that had me end up taking a taxi to the appointment.

Once checked in, the assessment took something like 45 minutes. The verdict is that I tore the upper back muscle that connects to the shoulder and rotator cuff some 5 months ago, and it has not healed properly (likely due to overuse). In addition, there’s a lot of edema and damage to the shoulder and muscles around the joint. Physiotherapy will help it a lot, but the physiotherapist discouraged me from getting a steroid shot in the shoulder, as she didn’t think it would help (since there’s no real problem with the shoulder socket itself).

I then underwent the first treatment session that consisted of some exercises, a deep massage on the area (that hurt like the dickens), and finally some electro stimulation. I felt much better after the session, and have booked two more appointments for next week. She also advised me not to lift anything relatively heavy and to not extend the arm too far or raise it higher than my shoulder for a little while, as this could aggravate things. Will definitely make things interesting when I go down to Indianapolis in around 12 days. *sigh*

After the appointment, I had a really good lunch at the coffeeshop/cafeteria in the building: a nice bowl of hamburger and veggie soup with a roast beef and havarti wrap. Filling, and satisfying. After that, I went home and did some work on stuff that I’ve been meaning to do.

My only complaint today is the fact that my shoulder is hurting like hell, as mentioned above. Meds and some tidying around the house and a bit of reading will help. I hope.

Results of the Ultrasound Tests July 12, 2017

I had my doctor appointment yesterday to find out what the results of the x-ray and shoulder ultrasounds showed.

The appointment was for 2:15 pm, but I didn’t get in to see the doctor until close to 2:50 pm so it was a relatively long wait in the office. Once inside, the nurse weighed me. I was pleased to see that I hadn’t gained any weight, but I hadn’t lost any weight either.

Suffice to say, the test results were all negative. As far as he could tell, there’s nothing wrong with my shoulder, but he can see the pain’s real and that I have little movement in it, and there’s a good amount of swelling around it. Since it could be something to do with vertebral discs, he’s going to set up an MRI of my upper spine and the area, and see what that shows. In the meantime, he suggested (very strongly) that I go have some physiotherapy on the shoulder to try and get some of the mobility back and strength built up there.

Should be fun. NOT.

In the meantime, I’m in a lot of pain there. And it’s affecting the use of my arm quite badly at the moment.

Nothing to report of any consequence.

I am still sick. Coughing away, some blood. Left shoulder in severe pain (the coughing has probably not helped.) And to top it off, I’m still talking like a fracking choking frog. Barely have any voice.

The doctor still hasn’t received the x-rays that were taken at the hospital the same day I went to see him. Bugger it all. 😦

Working from home. Just trying to cope. Not doing it very well.

Just got back from the doctor’s office to get the results of my blood tests.

The news on my triglycerides was very good, but the other news is not good…in fact, it’s very, very bad.

I– I have a lot of stuff to digest after this doctor’s appointment, and have to make some very hard decisions.

I– I– I can’t talk about this at the moment. Sorry.

Well, my fears and suspicions have been confirmed.

I went to the doctor’s office for my appointment early this afternoon, and things came out pretty much as I expected. The doctor listened to my chest and stuff, checked my ears and throat, and told me that there was definite “crackling” in my right lung and some in the left, and confirmed that I’ve got bronchitis. He reassured me that it’s not as bad as it might be, but that a course of antibiotics was called for, and prescribed some Biaxin/Clarithromycin. Meanwhile, the harsh coughing continues at times. So what else is new?

The appointment itself was to go over my latest diabetes test results and a general health check-up, and we talked about various things. Contrary to what the endo had said, my PSA test results were higher than the previous one, not lower, and he’s sending me for another PSA blood test in about a month. As for the diabetes, the doctor was content with where I am right now with it, but that I do need to get the a1C and my triglyceride levels down somewhat (okay, a lot with the latter!).

Went and picked up the antibiotic on the way home, after eating some lunch at Aamp;W. While the root beer (sugar-free!) is great, I’m not crazy about their food, though the sweet potato fries were nice (though not as good as the ones I’ve eaten in Kansas City). Got home, caught up on a bit of e-mail, and watched some curling action at the Scott Tournament of Hearts. Fell asleep (not surprising really, given the night that I’d had), and then did some reading of more Coriolis – The Third Horizon game stuff.

Just about time to make some supper, and then see where the evening leads me. More curling viewing, I suspect. 🙂

As mentioned in one of my blog posts yesterday, I had my appointment with the endocrinologist at the Diabetes Centre yesterday afternoon.

I managed to take a taxi to the Riverside Hospital, and arrived there about 10 minutes early for the appointment. The nurse and technician took me in relatively quickly, and weighed me (I’m holding pretty steady these days, and that’s all I’m saying) and then took my blood pressure (it was up slightly, but not too high). The nurse commented that given how much pain I’m in, it’s not surprising. We went through my list of medications, and then it was back to the waiting room before seeing the doctor.

The endo was about half-an-hour behind on his stuff. So my 3:20 pm appointment didn’t happen until 4:05 pm. We went over my blood test results, and things were pretty much as I expected. My a1C result was down somewhat, but still higher than the doctor would like. The triglycerides are very high, but my cholesterol levels seem to be doing better. The PSA test results were down slightly from the previous, but he told me that he’ll make sure that my family doctor keeps alert and up-to-date on the PSA stuff (for obvious reasons, at least if you’re a man over 50 years old!). He decides to tweak my medication by increasing the dose of Diamicron slightly, and switched me off the Invokana and back onto the Forxiga, and then we talked about a few other medical concerns that I have.

After making the next appointment and setting up the blood tests and the like for the next time, I was able to get a cab back home relatively quickly, and got home around 5:00 pm. Had a hot cup of tea, and half a bagel with lox, and then sat back with my feet up and did a bit of reading.

Had my appointment with the doctor this afternoon, as mentioned in the previous post.

I arrived at the doctor’s office on time for the appointment, but he was running around 3/4 of an hour behind. So I waited somewhat (im)patiently, and read a bit of the book that I had brought with me.

Once the doctor saw me, I learned that all of my test results were all right. The PSA test results were a bit high, but still fine after the previous test results, though he wasn’t happy that it hadn’t been done in over a year. My a1C was done somewhat from what it had been, but the doctor still wants the value lower. My triglycerides were still a little bit too high, so there was no accurate reading of the cholesterol levels.

We arranged another appointment for next year, after I see the endo specialist, but overall I’m glad that stuff is relatively all right. Still need to work on the diabetes stuff, of course, but for now I’m taking things one day at a time.

It’s Monday morning.

The start of the work week here in the middle of October. So far, it’s been a very busy day (and it’s still relatively early), so I’ll see how things progress.

Gaming yesterday was a lot of fun (some of which I posted about on Twitter yesterday), and the board gaming session went really well and I relaxed and forgot about some of the other things in my life. I’ll blog about the gaming, with some photos from that, later today.

This afternoon I have a hospital appointment to find out the results of the tests I had back the first weekend of October. Not looking forward to this at all. ::crossing fingers::

Anyway, time for a cup of herbal tea, and then back to the work.

Yesterday (Tuesday) was one of the longest days I’ve had in a while.

The morning started off well enough, with work keeping me busy, though I’d had a bit of a rough night in terms of bowel problems, but that was something that I was expecting. I came home from work, changed into non-office attire, and headed over to the doctor’s office for my appointment. The test results on my wrist showed nothing really wrong, but his diagnosis was that I’m either suffering from neuropathy induced problems or the eary stages of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. Either way, he told me we’ll keep an eye on things, and gave me some suggestions on how to handle the occasional pain and some stuff that I can do for it.

From the doctor’s office, I went over to the Billings Bridge Plaza, and had some lunch. Specifically a bacon and chicken wrap at Tim Horton’s with a bottle of water. Very nice, and quite tasty, but not as filling as I’d hoped. I had agreed to meet SteveR at the house so managed to get back to the house just a few minutes before he arrived, and then grabbing up some of the stuff I had that needed photocopying, we headed out.

We went to the pharmacy, as we both had to pick up prescriptions and I also needed to clean up a mess with some of the prescription orders. Once that was done, we headed over to Business Depot, and I did the printing I needed for the Polaris RPG while also picking up a couple of blue binders. It was a pretty hot day, and we both had a bit of an appetite, so we went over to Harvey’s and had a hot dog with a small milkshake (mine was vanilla), though I didn’t finish the latter. From Harvey’s it was back to my place where SteveR dropped me off, and while he headed back home.

I took a small sitz bath (as I was drenched from the heat outdoors), and then had a bottle of water to hydrate myself, and some celery sticks with some cream cheese as a light snack. The rest of what was left of the afternoon went nicely, although I did take a slight nap. And then just before supper it started. Bowel problems. The kind where basically you make a mess of the bathroom floor. ‘Nuff said. I cleaned the mess up, and then finally got around to making supper (amid several more trips to the bathroom), and finally settled down enough for the rest of the night that I could just sit back, put my (badly aching and swollen) foot up, and relax.

I woke up this morning feeling relatively fine, though I’ve still got some pain in the left ankle, and it’s pretty much swollen up again and is quite painful. Work is keeping me busy this morning, and that’s good.

But I could really use a nap soon. Maybe this afternoon.
